Committed to a greener future

Environmental protection helps to minimize the negative impact of Zalgirio Arena and its visitors on nature, the environment, people and health. An Environmental Policy for the Zalgirio Arena building was signed and launched in 2014, including objectives and recommendations for reducing the negative impact on the environment for tenants, employees and guests of Zalgirio Arena. Zalgirio Arena visitors are encouraged to sort their rubbish by separating household waste from plastic and paper containers. All electronic waste is also collected separately. Nature-friendly activities are promoted: bee colonies on the Nemunas island near Zalgirio Arena are housed in beehives representing Kaunas modernist buildings.

Sustainable energy solutions

Energy efficiency, which aims to minimize the consumption of water, heat and electricity at Zalgirio Arena, thereby reducing the negative impact on the environment. The 500 kW solar power plant installed on the roof of Zalgirio Arena allows us to generate a third of the electricity we consume ourselves and contributes to CO2 reduction. Water, heat and electricity consumption is constantly monitored. Improvements to the systems are being designed in line with the latest engineering innovations.

Socially responsible community

Social responsibility encourages to act responsibly towards society, to bridge the gap between disadvantaged groups and the general public, and to raise the self-awareness of Zalgirio Arena and its tenants, employees and visitors. The integration of people with disabilities, the "One Team" project between Zalgiris Kaunas and the EuroLeague, the cooperation with the "Mamu unija" charity foundation, which cares for Lithuanian children with oncological diseases, and the friendship with the animal care organization "Penkta koja" contribute to the development of the community's self-awareness.

Solutions for better wellbeing

We take care of the health of Zalgirio Arena's tenants, as well as the health of visitors to the arena. Zalgirio Arena provides good workplaces that meet the highest standards of workplace design. The quality of the drinking water used in the building is checked annually to ensure it meets the quality requirements for drinking water. The building is properly ventilated to ensure fresh air in all areas. Zalgirio Arena employees and visitors are encouraged to walk or cycle to work or events.
