The Big Show, a theatrical concert, in which actor Simonas Storpirštis will play the role of a Rolling Stone journalist traveling through the pages of the magazine’s history… The most beautiful songs, ballads, and popular hits of Queen, Elton John, Bryan Adams, Aerosmith, Tina Turner, Bon Jovi, Pink Floyd, Sting, Eric Clapton, and others will be performed, all in a unique music and theater show format.
The period from the 1960s to the 1990s in music history is often called the golden age of rock, when bands that have become timeless classics reigned on radios, record players, headphones, and dance halls. Talented actors and singers Vidas Bareikis, Egidijus Sipavičius, Liepa Mondeikaitė, Oneida Kunsunga, Simonas Storpirštis, Indrė Launikonytė and, of course, the legend of Lithuanian rock Vladas Kovaliovas, together with a group of professional musicians, invite you to move to the times when a real musical revolution took place – “Age of Rock: Arena Show”.
Sharing their stunning energy, the performers will create an incredible atmosphere that will allow you to experience the spirit of rock music with real rock anthems. At the “Age of Rock” concerts, which will take place in the largest halls in the country, music will be combined with history, show elements and unique solutions.
“When I first heard rock, I realized that this is my music,” admits singer Egidijus Sipavičius. – This music is very nostalgic for me – Black Sabbath was played at school dances, we listened to Nazareth in the squares with my classmates, I sang Deep Purple and Queen for the first time at a dance party. That music really laid a strong foundation for my further music making – I looked for hints of rock everywhere. Participating in this project is a wonderful opportunity to return to the days of my youth.”
Performer Liepa Mondeikaitė is convinced that people love rock because of how this music makes them feel.
“Rock music is unique and incredibly creative. Rock music has evolved over time, incorporating various subgenres and styles, which is why it is attractive to many people, many can find themselves in it. When listening to rock music, you feel that sense of fullness. It is a whole – electric guitars, drums, bass guitars, keyboards, vocals – it allows you to experience that supernatural feeling, and you just want to break free, dance and go completely crazy,” says Liepa.
Singer Vidas Bareikis says that although he listens to music of various genres, rock occupies a really important place in his life’s playlist.
“From the first guitar chords with Metallica to drops of sweat during sports training with System of a Down, from rebellion with Nirvana to the wild energy of Foo Fighters,” the performer says. – At every stage, rock music is that energy charge from which you can draw a lot of strength. Since I was born in 1986, I was still too young for the big stadium rock bands. But I heard all the legends of Queen, Guns N’ Roses, Aerosmith, AC/DC from my older relatives, and now it will be fun to perform them live myself.”
Actress and singer Oneida Kunsunga says that she grew up with rock music, it shaped her and her musical taste. However, the artist cannot say that she feels nostalgia for this music – even today, Queen, Tina Turner, The Rolling Stones and others are constantly playing on her playlist. “Many different events are associated with these great artists and their music. I think everyone does, when they hear the songs, they remind us of something, and sometimes it’s just nice to listen to good music that never gets old,” she is convinced.
The concerts are directed by talented film director Indrė Juškutė, while the lighting design and scenography solutions, recreating the spirit of the crazy rock age with all the necessary show elements, are created by innovative lighting and scenography artist Paulius Varonenka. The musical part is taken care of by rock music diva Indrė Launikonytė.
