One of the most famous Latvian performers, the owner of a velvety voice, Laima Vaikulė, is returning to Lithuania in autumn! In the two-part concert program, accompanied by a big band from Latvia, not only new works will be played, but also all the most popular songs of the artist – “I went to Piccadilly”, “Vernisage”, “Acapulco”, “Dar ne vakaras” and many other great hits that Laima Vaikulė is known and loved by millions of fans all over the world.

LAIMA VAIKULĖ

The singer was born in 1954 in the small Latvian town of Cesis. When the girl turned three, her parents moved to Riga, to a small one-room apartment. The family was large enough – in addition to Laima, there were two more daughters and a son. Laima started attending school in the capital of Latvia, and at the age of 12 she made her stage debut. At that time, she did not dream of a stage career – she wanted to become a doctor, so after finishing the 8th grade she started studying medicine and planned to become a surgeon.

However, it turned out that “it was not Laima who chose music, but music chose Laima”. Little by little, the teenager’s attitude towards life changed and already fifteen-year-old Laima won the competition and became the soloist of the Riga Radio and Television Orchestra led by Raimondo Paulus. Since 1979, the performer started working in the popular Jūras Perle cabaret, and even then Laima’s sensual and deep voice, soft Latvian accent and refined sense of style opened unprecedented distances for the listeners, and delicate movements and choreography became a real cultural shock for the audience of that time. Her image was as wonderful as the music that Raimondas Paulas composed especially for her. This is exactly the genius music to which Laima is loyal to this day.

After the cabaret period, the singer entered a new era in her career – she participated in many music festivals, including “Bratislava Lyra-87” (won the Grand Prix), “World Music Award” in Monaco and others. Also filmed in feature and musical films, collaborated with the US recording studio MCA/GRP, which released the successful album “Laima Tango”, participated in the New Year’s “Red-White Show” in Tokyo and intensively organized world tours. Laima has performed in the largest and most prestigious concert halls in Europe, USA, Canada, Israel, including Carnegie Hall, Madison Square Garden, Radio City Music Hall, Universal Studios and many others.

Directing studies gave the artist the opportunity to become not only the author of her concert programs, but also their director. And many years after her debut, Laima presented herself to the audience in a completely new capacity – as a mature, Nordic-restrained, but insanely sexy diva. Since then, all programs of Laima Vaikulė are a real triumph of extravagance, full of perfect plasticity of movements, elegance and subtle sophistication, and the velvet timbre of the voice makes you admire Laima’s unique talent again and again.

in 2015 The singer organized the international music festival “Laima Rendevous Jūrmala” for the first time, which has grown into one of the most important events in Latvian cultural life. The festival takes place every year in the Jūrmala concert hall “Dzintari” and is broadcast live on TV and on the Internet (audience audience – 100 million annually). Such famous artists as Salvador Sobral, Chris Norman, Tanita Tikaram, Mario Biondi, Nani Bregvadze and more than 200 famous artists from all over the world have participated in the event as guests. This year, Laima Rendevous Jūrmala was decorated by Andrej Makarevich, leader of Bi-2, Londonbeat and the legendary group Mashina vremeni, and all the concerts of the festival were accompanied by sold-out crowds.
