GRAND PIANO SHOW: IEVA DŪDAITĖ

One of the most famous Lithuanian pianists, Ieva Dūdaitė, presents the biggest concerts of her career under the name Grand Piano Show, where she will present herself in a new capacity and raise the concept of the piano concert to the next level.

The composer and performer performing in Kaunas will be the first pianist in the history of our country to hold a tour in arenas.

I. Dūdaitė is considered one of the most promising Lithuanian pianists of her generation, having performed on some of the biggest and most prestigious stages in the world. The pianist has played for the presidents of Lithuania, Poland, Germany, and Italy, accompanied world-class musicians, performed at various music festivals.

The composer, who studied music in Italy, the Netherlands and Germany for eleven years and returned to her homeland in 2020, can boast of three albums – Tiersen meets Chopin and Inseparable, which were released abroad and achieved great success, and the latest album Marie, presented in April of this year.

Presenting the new project Grand Piano Show, the composer and performer is taking an important step in her career, which will not only raise her performances to a higher level, but also become the first female pianist in the history of Lithuania to hold a tour in arenas.

“Usually my concerts are more lyrical, aiming for intimacy, a close connection with the audience, then these performances will be completely different. Although the audience will see a more lyrical, sophisticated side of me in the first part, later on they will be treated to a huge explosive charge. The word “concert” is no longer appropriate here, because it will be a real show. We will place a piano on a pedestal, which we will surround with many impressive elements of the show”, says I. Dūdaitė.

I. Dūdaitė, who fell in love with the piano as a child and is counting her 27th year on stage, aims to present herself in a completely new capacity with the Grand Piano Show project and to change the established concept of what a piano performance should look like.

“This show is a huge step for me, because I will bring my greatest love in life – the piano – closer to even more people’s hearts. It is the most universal instrument in the world, more universal than even the human voice, which has its limits. 88 keys with which you can play any melody and perform music like an orchestra plays,” says the musician.

“Often we don’t even realize that we hear the piano in most of the music around us, be it popular, classical or rock music. I want to bring this instrument closer to people, show why I love it so much and why it is such a higher synthesis of everything for me. I find everything in it: philosophy, religion, mathematics and the most universal language. I want to create such a show that, after seeing and hearing, people would want to come back again and again”, says I. Dūdaitė.

In the shows held at the Zalgirio Arena in Kaunas, not only the works of I. Dūdaitė will be played, but also the hits of world stars such as Elton John, Queen or Coldplay, the pianist will be assisted by vocalists, string instruments and impressive elements of the show, which will be revealed in the near future.

The Grand Piano Show events are organized by the Seven Live company, which this year is also working on such projects as Linas Adomaitis, Angelou, the Vienna Mozart Orchestra, Edith Piaf.

Tickets for the historical performances of I. Dūdaitė’s Grand Piano Show will go on sale on May 20.
