The classic 1987 American film “Purvini šokiai” (orig. Dirty Dancing), which is called one of the best love stories in cinema, will be revived next May in a unique concert “Dirty Dancing in Concert” in four Lithuanian cities – Vilnius, Kaunas, Šiauliai and Palanga.
In the screening of the film, never seen before in Lithuania, on the big screen with a live concert, the audience will see not only the legendary film, but also musicians, performers and even dancers who will bring the magic of dance seen on film to reality.
Spectators in Lithuania will be able to immerse themselves in the event that will bring back the seventies already next spring – on May 21 in Vilnius, on May 22 in Šiauliai, on May 23 in Kaunas and on May 24 in Palanga.
The romantic drama “Dirty Dancing” premiered 36 years ago and tells the story of a young woman named Baby who falls in love with dance teacher Johnny while on vacation. Starring Jennifer Gray and Patrick Swayze.
With its sensitive story and soundtrack, the film seems to have captured the hearts of audiences around the world, earning 214 million dollars. dollars and winning as many as 10 international awards (including an Oscar and a Golden Globe) and nominated for seven more.
Dirty Dancing stood out from the crowd with its music, which is considered by many to be the best soundtrack of the 1970s. The film features such classics as Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes’ “I’ve Had The Time of My Life,” The Contours’ hit “Do You Love Me,” and Eric Carmen’s “Hungry Eyes.”
The film concert, which will visit four Lithuanian cities, was produced by Karlas Sydow, who has been working on various “Dirty Dances” projects for 19 years. The talented producer has also worked on events such as British artist Sting’s The Last Ship tour and hundreds of theater productions in the US and UK.
The unforgettable experience of “Dirty Dances” is presented by Lionsgate, one of the largest companies in the world’s film and entertainment market, and all four events in Lithuania are organized by the company “Seven Live”, which also works with the arenas “Piaf! The Show” and concerts by Linas Adomaitis and GospelJonas.
