A rhapsodical opening of Kaunas Žalgiris Arena took place on Thursday evening (August 18th, 2011). The event began with a theatrical performance, permeated with mythology. The main character – a child, together with dancers and lighting effects, created spectacular visuals.

Curious glances follow the arena as people pass by, as the finishing touches are being added to the Žalgiris Arena, which is built on the Nemunas Island in Kaunas. But few do know that the lead architect Eugenijus Miliūnas encoded more than just one important message within this work.

On the 6th of September, when European men’s basketball championship was picking up pace, a press conference took place in Žalgiris Arena, where talks were held about the goals and objectives of the arena.
