15 January of the following year Stasys Povilaitis would have turned 77 years old on January 15th. The singer of great memory, loved and still loved by the whole of Lithuania, left us eight years ago, but his songs have remained in our hearts forever. To commemorate the birthday of the charismatic maestro and to warmly remember a wonderful man and a great entertainer, the Stasys Povilaitis Song Revue “Shine to Me Again” is being organised. The concert will take place on 27 January at Kaunas Žalgirio Arena.
The show will be attended by Stasys Povilaitis’ stage colleagues, famous Lithuanian singers – Inga Valinskienė, Egidijus Sipavičius, Simonas Donskovas, Povilas Meškėla, Liudas Mikalauskas, Vladas Kovaliovas, Jurga Šeduikytė, Miglė Pivoriūnaitė, Egidijus Bavikinas, and the soloists will be accompanied by the Kaunas big band. The two-part musical revue will feature all of the stage master’s best works – “Kristina”, “Aidi aidi”, “Burnt Bridges”, “Pago pago”, “Sesilija”, “Farewell to the Sea”, “Gypsy’s Eyes”, “Milk Fluff”, “You Forgive Me”, “Shine for Me Again”, and a number of other popular songs by S. Povilaitis about the joy of life, light and love.

An exceptional personality, always elegant and self-possessed, a true gentleman of the stage – this is how Stasys Povilaitis is remembered by his friends and admirers, who used to call the singer the Lithuanian Frank Sinatra. The maestro’s discography includes 20 solo albums, the last of which, the double album “Golden Slaggers of the Last Century”, was released in 2013. The musician has received numerous accolades and prestigious awards, including one for his contribution to Lithuanian music. In 1967, Stasys Povilaitis was the winner of the Baltic competition Liepajas Dzintars, in 1991 he received the Antanas Šabaniauskas Prize, in 1997 he was awarded the Bravo statuette for his services to music, in 1997 he received the Statuette for his services to Lithuanian music. In 1997, he was awarded the Order of the Grand Duke of Lithuania Gediminas of the 5th degree, in 2007 – the Government Culture and Art Prize, and in 2013 Stasys Povilaitis was awarded the medal “For Merits to Vilnius and the Nation” and the M.A.M.A. Lifetime Achievement Award.
