The music of Maestro Vytautas Kernagis returns to the concert halls: on the occasion of Kernagis’ birthday, an impressive performance will be held in the largest arena of Lithuania.
The concert, which will take place at the Zalgirio Arena in Kaunas on May 21, will feature works from different stages of Kernagis’ life, commemorating his entire creativity path that stays relevant to Lithuanian culture to this day.
The performance will consist of three parts: an acoustic segment, cabaret “Song Theater” and the “Herald of the Nation”. After more than 30 years, songs born during the last creative period of Kernagis unexpectedly became extremely relevant again.
During the concert, the most famous songs of Kernagis will be performed by Andrius Mamontovas, Mantas Jankavicius, Raminta Naujanyte-Bjelle, Giedre Kilciauskiene and the choir “Bel Canto”. All of the singers will be performing along a live orchestra.
“Vytautas Kernagis’ contribution to Lithuanian music is enormous. He is an exceptional artist, important to anyone who have created with him as well as to a later generation. I am not an exception. I feel very happy to have the opportunity to perform his songs.”
During the concert, the singers will interactively perform the songs together with the Maestro himself, whose voice will be heard on the stage again, and him singing will be seen on the screens installed in the Arena. It will bring the nostalgic memories of the Maestro back to life.
The director of the concert is Vytautas Dambrauskas, the composer is Jievaras Jasinskis. Both concerts will be conducted by Maestro’s daughter Egle Kernagyte.
“We will celebrate his birthday from the three periods of his creativity path: the first is the beginning, his acoustic songs and singing poetry, the second part is theatrical performances with song theater and the cabaret, the third is the era of independence and festive songs of the nation.”
The initiator of the concert is the Vytautas Kernagis Foundation.
